Cancer Screening Camps in Rural Areas

At these camps, screening is done for abnormalities, infections and cancerous cells in breast and cervix of a woman. Each camp involves educating and screening 150 to 200 women. Medicines are provided for free of cost. In case of any abnormalities, post-screening care and treatment are provided.

In partnership with Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, this Foundation screens underprivileged women between 35 to 65 years age, for early signs of breast cancer by way of clinical breast examination (CBE) performed by women healthcare workers of the respective Governments. Those diagnosed with breast cancer are provided free treatment under State & Central Govt schemes.

They organise health camps, on request, to conduct tests that screen for cancer and overall health. 2 mobile screening centres mounted on a bus, scan people in villages. Each centre carries doctors, nurses and the equipment for breast scanning, cervical scanning and hemogram.

Andhra Pradesh - Chittoor Dist (Srikalahasti & Surrounding Villages) Organize cancer awareness and detection camps in the slums of Srikalahasti and surrounding villages. People identified as suffering from cancer are sent to referral hospital for treatment.

Carry out detection camps in above districts through their mobile cancer screening bus

At these screening camps people who are detected with cancer or pre-cancerous condition are given appropriate advice and support.

This community-based cancer screening addresses oral, breast and cervical cancers. Screening services are taken to the doorstep of people in high incidence areas such as above District. DESH team walks with patients through the entire journey of initial screening to diagnosis to treatment.

Screening is carries out (a) At tea gardens of Amalgamated Plantations and (b) At remote areas of Assam as a part of community outreach programmes in collaboration with 'National Health Mission' and State Govt's Directorate of Medical Education.

Camps & awareness programmes are organized at various remote places in Bihar for counselling & cancer detection every month. Counselling part is done by Doctors, Cancer Survivors & Clinical Psychologists.

Their cancer detection camps target detection at early stage of oral cancers in men and breast and cervical cancers in women. Separately, they also carry out camps using 'Sanjeevani Rath' which is a high-tech mobile van in which advanced mammography machine has been installed to detect breast cancer.

Have been organizing camps among the under-served urban & semi-urban areas of Central Gujarat. Those patients who require intensive therapy or surgeries are transferred to the GCSMC Hospital for further indoor treatment.

Their team along with cancer specialists visist the Anganwadis in various of Gurgaon to carry on Clinical Breast Examination. These are free of charge. Women who are symptomatic and need further screenings are called to the OPD at Breast Cancer Centre at Sector 45, Gurgaon for futher action.

They organise and conduct cervical cancer screening camps at different villages in Gurgaon and other rural areas in Haryana.

Through these ARY clinics, local communities are screened for oral cancer & cervical cancer as well as checked for diabetes & hypertension. The Foundation's health workers identify people who seem to be at risk and preregister them for a screening camp.

MSMF conducts free oral cancer and breast cancer screening at villages, helath centre and community centres in above Districts. The poor patients diagnosed through the screening program are supported by MSMF for further treatment.

Conduct awareness programmes and screening camps in the above 2 Districts of Karnataka.

KCTRI conducts 10-15 free cancer awareness camps every year in North Karnataka. Importance of early detection of cancer is explained through slide shows, lectures, wall posters etc.

They have a mobile mammography unit (in a bus), used for breast cancer screening camps across Karnataka. The camps are conducted for free, except for transport charges for the bus at actuals.

Screening is carried out through mobile cancer centres equipped with mammography, X-ray, ultrasound, dental diagnostic centre and laboratory. Each mobile clinic has doctors, nurses & technicians.

HCP also conducts Breast Cancer awareness and screening program in the villages adjoining Bangalore as well as in slums of Bangalore.

They hold camps to generate awareness among rural women about the symptoms of breast, cervical and oral cancer and the need to go in for screening even with the slightest symptoms. Also teach breast self-examination.

They have 2 buses equipped with state-of-the-art gadgets to screen for detection of breast, cervix and oral cancers. On an average the department conducts 6-8 camps and around 250-300 people are screened in each camp.

This campaign concerns awareness, prevention, detection, counselling and treatment of cancer. Cancer detection camps will be held in rural and urban areas of above districts.

Under this project, a Mobile Mammogram Unit travels in villages of the District to carry out screening for breast cancer as well as for generating awareness.

These centres conduct cancer detection camps and awareness programmes in neighbouring Districts with the help of voluntary agencies and government organisations.

Under this campaign, a cancer detection mobile clinic van has started operating in Eranakulam with the support of MAJ Hospital, Edappally. It is equipped to screen for cancers of breast, oral, skin as well as CA 125 and Pap Smear tets. 300 villages in the Ernakulam District will be covered during the course of one year.

This involves screening for symptoms of oral, breast, cervical and colo-rectal cancers in Malabar region. The Sanjeevani mobile unit has faciilities like ultra sound scan, digital mammogram, lab etc.

The mobile mammogram unit, donated by Rotary International, screens women for free for breast cancer. The team also creates awareness on the importance of detecting early signs of Cancer and to undergo periodic checks to ensure that the disease is detected early.

Conduct breast cancer screening camps on a routine basis through their mobile mammogram unit which is staffed by doctors and their assistants who visit rural areas to test women who are at risk.

At the camps, awareness is created on early warning signs and all patients are examined for cancer. Local administration & organisations like Lions & Rotary clubs provide facilities & logistics. In addition to MP, camps are also held in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan & UP.

This location is the rural field practice area of KJ Somaiya Hospital. Annually, breast cancer awareness is imparted to local women, who are also given opportunity to get clinical breast examination and mammography done.

At these camps, the hospital’s consultants conduct screening to diagnose cancer at early stages and advise appropriate treatment at free/ concessional rates.

Their Mobile Cancer Detection (Clinic on Wheels) visit the villages as per a set schedule and conduct the Screening Camps for cervical cancer. ASHA workers, Arogya Mitras, Foundation volunteers register women for these camps in advance. The PAP Smear samples will be sent to the hospitals in Aurangabad and Jalna for investigation.

Under the above project, cancer screening is carried out in various villages in Ahmednagar District such as Jambhali, Gomalwadi, Shendi, Umbare, Dongerwadi etc.

GCCI conducts free cancer detection camps all over Punjab, from their Project Offices in Bhatinda, Ludhiana, Mohali and Patiala. The camps are held in villages, slum areas, RWA Community Centres, Senior Citizen Associations & Institutions.

Conduct screening camps for breast, cervical and oral cancers in Punjab’s urban, semi-urban and rural areas. At the camps they use fully-equipped mobile cancer early detection unit with doctors, radiographer, technician and volunteers.

They work in rural India generating breast cancer awareness in rural areas of above mentioned States.

By collaborating with local healthcare providers, the Foundation ensures that women in the rural Chhattisgarh are able to undergo screening for breast cancer and cervical cancer.

The 'Mammo Bus' covers above districts, screening women and spreading awareness on early detection of Breast Cancer. The bus has Mammogram facility and Ultra Sound Scanner, alon with competent technicians.

They have a cervical cancer screening van donated by Rotary International. This van covers Kanyakumari District.

Their mobile screening vehicle, funded by Cognizant foundation, criss-crosses Tirunelveli District to conduct awareness talks and screening camps.

RUHSA carries out cervical cancer screening and community-based peer education in K V Kuppam Block of Vellore District. The same is carried out through 18 of the 23 mobile outreach clinics in the K V Kuppam Block.

They have two mobile screening centres. Mounted on a bus, each centre carries doctors, nurses and the equipment for breast scanning, cervical scanning, haemogram etc. This ensures early detection of cancer and other diseases.

Under this program free Oral, Breast and Cervical cancer screenings are carried out through mobile unit. Those detected with cancer are counselled and treatment support is provided through referral to cancer hospitals.

Above villages have been adopted by IIT Hyderabad under 'Unnat Bharat Abhiyan'. The screening bus with facilities like mammography, colposcopy, X-ray etc travels to these villages to conduct screening for cancer.

Conduct screening camps in urban and rural areas of Telangana to detect breast, cervical and oral cancers by partnering with hospitals and government departments. Also organise awareness campaigns across communities, schools, colleges and other institutions.

Two Outreach Programmes namely 'Pallimangal' and 'Vivekananda Medical Services' (ViMS) are being run by the Hospital. 'Pallimangal' has one Mobile Medical unit and 'ViMS' includes Two Mobile Medical Units and 9 Telemedicine units. Both are serving rural population of Mathura District.

This hospital has been set up by Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital, Allahabad. Activities are twofold: (a) Early cancer screening camps are held at the hospital's Community Oncology Wing every second & fourth Saturday (b) Population-level cancer screening for Breast, Cervix, and Oral Cancers is carried out on every Monday, Tuesday & Friday in distant villages of Allahabad.

These screening camps at held at primary health centres (PHC), community health centres (CHC), CGHS clinics, ESI hospitals and nearby government institutions. Screening is done for oral (visual examination), breast (clinical breast examination) and cervical cancer (Pap smear and VIA).

Medical camps are organised with the help of doctors to examine for cancer, diabetes, heart diseases etc.

Free cancer screening camps are held regularly in rural areas of Uttarakhand. Breast screening is done for women aged 50 to 70. Cervical screening is done for women aged 25 to 64.

Conduct “Women’s Health Camps,” to detect women’s specific cancers.

The Trust along with 'Lions Club of Burdwan Cancer Care' conduct regular cancer screening programs in villages. Cervical and breast cancer screening is done for females aged 40 and above. Among males aged 50 and above, general screening for oral hygiene, lung cancer among smokers and prostate cancer tests are done.

They conduct free breast cancer and cervical cancer screening camps in Langalberia, Gobindapur and other villages in South 24 Parganas Dist. Those found with cancer are provided medication free or at subsidised cost.

Their mobile breast cancer screening unit on wheels rolls out every day from Rajarhat campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute. The bus is well-equipped with latest imaging machines to carry out mammography.
